Waterhall Joinery Ltd have just recently completed and installed a fitted wine rack in the kitchen of a local wine collector.
We were approached by Alex just after Christmas with this interesting project, as Alex is keen collector of fine wines and after an accident involving a hoover and several bottles on a freestanding wire rack, he decided that he needed something more substantial and stable!
There was a space along one wall where his kitchen units finished that was crying out to be utilised. We decided to create a full height wine rack that would be made to match the rest of the kitchen, so that it would seemlessly blend in and showcase his wine collection safely.
The wine rack carcass was made of MDF and fronted in Canadian Maple to provide a hard frame that could withstand the day to day activities in a family kitchen, especially as this is at the end of the existing cabinets.
Each shelf had four shallow maple troughs on which the bottles would lie securely and the shelving was inclined at an angle to ensure correct positioning of the bottles.
The whole wine rack was spray finished to match the rest of the kitchen and new timber cornice was made to continue from the original cornice around the wine rack.
Alex was delighted that he could now safely store his wine in the kitchen and was looking forward to organising his collection. Having arranged the bottles into his wine rack, Alex then realised the size of collection and that maybe an additional rack may be in the making…….
