A Modern Vision

A major home project was underway in Whitwell, for a house conversion where the homeowner wanted to change the design of her existing home, to a modern style house.  Contemporary houses are perfect for those who wish to make a clean break from the old home style, and embrace a pure new modern style for their home.  The benefits of the modern home being the abundance of natural light that this style can offer, and a home that gives you the opportunity to use a mix of materials to create an innovative design.   Glass, concrete, vinyl, metal and wood often are mixed in abundance in this style of progressive architecture.

Local joiners

Waterhall Joinery were approached by the local homeowner to take part in this project.  The new house was being constructed using a plenitude of glass and aluminium windows, and to go with this our client wanted to have a local company make a new contemporary exterior door, in keeping with the new design.

We were thrilled to be involved in this exciting project and encouraged our client to visit the Workshop at Waterhall Farm, as we were currently working on another modern style door (see Gallery), which on viewing would help to give a better vision as to what we can do to adapt the design to our customers needs.

The client’s original brief was to have a solid oak door in a Town House style, with 4 raised and fielded panels.  Having visited the Workshop and on seeing the contemporary exterior door we were working on, the brief soon changed and alternative ideas discussed that would compliment the new design further.    The final design was for the modern doors to have horizontal panels rather than vertical, and to have large stainless steel bar handles and furniture.   It was also suggested to emphasise the contemporary style further, to have a sand blasted double glazed unit depicting the house number, which would embrace the glass construction of the new home.

The door was manufactured and discussions took place to ensure we would be ready for installation as the plans progressed.

The end transformation of the old home to modern home, was amazing.  The contemporary exterior door was installed and our client was delighted that their final designs for the door totally complimented their whole projects design.
